Busy week

Christmas has put my model making on hold this week.  I am going to cut a pattern tonignt for a larger faux suede heavy horse which has been requested by one of my collectors.  Haven't made a suedei for sometime but really looking forward to it.

Snow is due to return this weekend, which is really miserable.  I think I will post pics if it's really bad.  Nearly finished my Christmas shopping and kids have finished school for the holidays.  We are meant to be family visiting this weekend but will have to see what the weather has in store for us.  Hope to have pics of new suedei soon.

I would like to wish you all merry Christmas and a rocking new year if I don't post before then.

Womble and Drummer

I have been a little lazy again this week and only have two horse made.  I have all good intentions to make four but I think this is too much.  Well here they are.  The first is Womble the Clydesdale gelding.  I have made him to 1/24th scale, he is measuring 4 1/2 inches.
Womble is a lovely horse, a real gentle giant.  He is lovely to handle dispite his size.  He is a beautiful show Cob and we feel he will be in the rosettes if shown.  Everyone on the yard love him.

Second is Drummer the Welsh Cob gelding. Worked to 1/24th scale he measures 3 1/2 inches with beautiful flaxen mane and tail.
Drummer is a beautiful Welsh cob gelding who is also a lovely novice ride.  He is very gentle with his rider.  He is really good in the school, and is popping small jumps with no trouble.  He has excellent stable manner.  He is good to hack in company and alone, he is that one in a million horse very hard to find.

Gypsy Vanner

Here is my latest feltie Pearl.  She is a 1/24th scale Gypsy Vanner mare.  I have also managed to put together a snow background.  We have signs of snow here tonight.  We have managed to stay snow free upto now, but snow has been at the Tawney yard for a couple of days.

Pearl is a lovely natured cob, a really nice novice ride.  She will pull when being turnout to grass but other than that she is good.  She will hack out alone and in company.  She will go first and last.  She hates to be in the school, but if you are looking for a show cob she's your horse.  She prefers to live out, is good with children and other animals and stable chums.

Frostie

Frostie weather everywhere.  Have had a really slow week.  Just haven't been able to get myself into gear.  I will be posting another feltie later today/tomorrow.  Might be two if I can get my finger out.  I have great problems  getting side tracked onto other projects.  I am also an artist doing landscapes and horses, sometimes people.  I will have to manage my time better between felties, art and housework and looking after everyone lol.

Snow has come to the Tawney yard, I am going to have some pic later of that (I hope).  Will post later.

More little wonders

Busy week this week, have three new little felties to show you.  I love making these guys.  I nearly have four but haven't quite finished the cob yet.  The first little horse is Ebony a lovely little black mare.  She measures just under 4 inches.  She is a lovely mare, with a fantastic nature,  She is a novice level with her dressage, I think she will go really far in this field.

Second little feltie really is a little cutie.  She is called Leabeth, a little grey Shetland pony.  She measure just over 3 1/12 inches.  She is a very strong little pony, so would not be a first pony.  She is fantastic a the SShetland grand national.  She doesn't like being in her stable and would happy to live out all year round.

Last but not least is the grand show off Riley.  He is a beautiful Arab gelding he really is a poser.  He is very green, and very interest in everything around him, which can be a bit of a pain sometimes.  He has been backed but need bringing on.  He has a lovely nature, but very green.

These little guys are worked to 1/24th scale.

Mini bug

I have the mini feltie bug.  I have been very busy with these little equines and will have some more to post very shortly.  Our little feltie yard is getting very busy that we are thinking of improving our stables and general yard area, so watch this space.  We are also having to employ more staff to cope with turn over of horses and ponies.  We are now Tawney Stud and have a couple of mares in foal, due in the spring, which is very exciting.  We're getting ready for a hard winter, as we have already seen a light dusting of snow on the hill tops.
Show preparations are under way for the next year, and we are hoping to be in the rosettes in 2011, keep your finger crossed.  Will keep you up to date with all the results.

Some tiny Tawneys

I been making some tiny felties.  They measure just under 4 inches.  They fit most 1/24th scale riders.  I love making these.

The bay is called Storm.  He is a very cheeky pushy gelding.  We have just started jumping him, he is doing quite well at novice level.  He has been running out on the odd occasion.  He is fine with a nice strong rider, who keeps a nice strong leg on.  He likes to push you with his nose and pushing his buckets around in his stable.  He has been known to bolt, but comes back to hand with the right rider.

The next horse is Cleo the palomino mare.  She is a very quite mare who likes a nice gentle hand.  She is a little spooky out on hacks, but we have found that if she is hacked out with another horse she is a lot better.  She is good in every other respect.  She is doing very well in the school, we think she may be good at dressage.  But we are taking it slow.

New Models

You would not believe the amount of times I forget my password to different things.  I have to keep resetting them.

Well I finally got my hands on the camera and here are the photos of my latest model felties Smartie and Eden.
Smartie is the little black pony who is very cheeky.  He is not a novice ride as he can be very strong, and has a bad stable manner.  But he is very fast around hunter trial courses, and is always in the 1st place rosettes.
Eden is a beautiful dapple grey heavy horse.  She is the most gentle giant you would ever come across.  She is a real plod, and will not tank off with any rider.  Fantastic confident giver.

I am now working on a little Shetland pony, and trying my hand at 1/24th scale felties.  Not sure how that will work out, will post pic anyway.

Hope bonfire night went well for everyone.  We had some fantastic rockets, plus it was our wedding anniversary on Friday, so double celebrations.

Update

Smartie is finished just need to get my camera out to take pics.  I have started a heavy horse mare who will be called Eden.  She will be a lovely dapple grey.  Things have been rather busy at home, we went to the Game expo at the excel in London on Saturday.  Fantastic day was had by all.  Would recommend to anyone who loves computer games and cosplay.

Side tracked again

Really must get on top of this, I keep getting side track onto other crafts.  I am having a little play with polymer clay to make some models, but don't worry felties will keep coming if I can put my knitting needles down.  I have so many projects on the go at once that I feel over whelmed.  I have to go back to basics and just concentrate on the horses.  They are feeling a little neglected.

Friday 1 October 2010

Eva

Oh I've been gone for a little while.  I keep getting side tracked, which is really annoying.  I have focused enough to get my felt mare Eva finished, plus have started on a little black pony called Smartie.  I have my fingers in to many pies, must take them out right now.  Hope you like Eva.

Art bug

I have the art bug again.  Think I might do some painting, still making felties also.  I should just paint in my own style and not really care how they come out.  It has always been a dream of mine to be an artist full time.  I do have more time on my hands now, what with being out of work at the moment.  Maybe now is the time to strike whilst the iron is hot.  Not to worry though, felties will still keep coming.  My paintings will be mostly of horses also, as this is were my passion is.

Marty

Here he is at long last, the lovely Marty.  He is a real cheeky chap,  I really enjoyed putting his markings on.  I think his photos turned out a little better than Lily's.  Off now to make a chestnut hunter.  I have really got the bug for these now.  Have a little More time on my hands at the moment, that can change at anytime though.  I am trying to make some riders for these horses as I would like to get back into showing a little.  The only thing with that is  there are not very many classes for craft models. Never mind.

Update

Sorted out the face book issue, now have the little group up and running, only little old me as a member so far.lol.  Nearly finished my skewbald gelding, I think I will call him Marty, also I think he may turn into a tri colour instead, I love that combo.  He is turning out to be a cheeky chappy already.  Should have pics up of him shortly if I can grab the camera.  Love to hear any of your comments.  So feel free.

Face book error

For some reason I can get into face book, so really sorry if people are trying to talk to me.  Not sure whats happened.  Will try to sort it out today.  My skewbald gelding is well under way.  I have worked the main body, just need to put his markings, hooves and eyes on.

Heres LILY

Here she is.  Got the camera today.  I'm not very good at taking photos, they do tend to come out a bit blurred, then trying to get her true colour to come through. She took me alittle longer to make than I would have liked.  I have finished with my other business so should have more time to make my felt horse.

I have decided to make them from felt from now on, I really like the feel.

She is worked to 1/12th scale.

Off to start my skewbald cob, Also Lily will be up on ebay shortly, will post link to that page.

Waiting for camera

When I get hold of the camera later today I will post pics of Lily, she is all finished.  Hubby takes it off to work everyday, so will have to wait until later.

Starting a skewbald gelding today, Just had some new felt in.  I'm hoping at the weekend to start my stables.  This is not easy because I do not have anywhere for it to go really, but it is something I have always wanted.  I think I will have ago at making it from paper mache.

Lily

Just about to finish my little mare Lily.  She is a dappled bay.  She is very cob like and a real sweet heart, everyone on the yard has fallen in love with her.  She loves to hack out and pop over some little logs, but she is not really a lover of the school work.  She can be a little strong when turning out, but she is good in all other areas.  Pics to follow shortly.

Just getting started

Well here I am finally with my little horses.  New stables opening with lots of squishy nags.  Tawney horses is a stud that breed felt horses for pleasure or the show ring.  I really hope  collectors will enjoy following the different horses and the stables through it's time ahead.  Let me tell you a little bit about  the yard.  Nestled in a little country hamlet,  with plenty of hacking and lovely views. Hope to have pics of new stables when finished.  Will post regularly so stay turned.
