Haflinger brooch

Have made another brooch, this time a Haflinger.  This is another one of my favourite breed.  I would love to own a Norwegian fjord and a Haflinger.  I have been working on some commission felties as well, just slow progress as usual.  I wish I could work faster.  I want to make a 1/9th scale model of the horse in my dream the other night.  He was beautiful, though a little excitable.  I would like to keep him to show.  Buy nice accessories for him and such.  Well here is the brooch I made.

Something a bit different.

I hate throwing the little pieces of felt I have left over after my models, so decided to make this little brooch.  As you can see he is a Norwegian Fjord my favourite breed, well one of.  This little brooch measures around 2.5 inches x 2.5 inches.  I have been working on some commissions, very slowly, my mode is slow. Life make my speed this way.  If I had my way I would sew allday but this wouldn't be good for my health.  I am working on my cosplay costume for MCM London on the 25th of this month.  I am going as The Spine from one of my favourite bands Steam powdered giraffe.  Hope you all have a great Halloween xxx

New commission models

Have been working on these commission portrait felties for a while.  Not sure why they have taken me so long to make.  I think I am getting lazy with regards to my sewing.  I am going to try and make a brooch of a horses head made out of felt.  Not much has happened since the Orsett show.  Recieved my trophy which I have pictured below.  I am still shocked that I won it.  It has my name engraved on it.  Will be up for the challenge again next year I hope.  Off now to work out this brooch, will post pictures if it is any good.

In the ribbons

Did really well at the Orsett country show yesterday.  Entered many classes for domestic and handy crafts.  I got three firsts, two seconds, one third and won a trophy.  I entered three of my models two felties and one paper mache sculpture.  It's the first time I have entered and really wasn't expecting to do so well.  The show was amazing.  Loads to see and do.  Lots of horse classes (for the real thing).  Other displays as well.  So much to pack into one day.  I would recommend anyone to go, you will not be disappointed.  Here are some photo's of my horse entries.

Thought I would include my other wins,  blown away by the whole thing.  I am hooked now on doing more next year.  Already thinking of what I can do.

This is the rosette that goes with the trophy, which I should get in about three wees time.  They have got to engrave my name on it.  The trophy was the icing on the cake.

Big gaps

Time is not my friend.  Sorry for not posting more often.  I do lose track of time.  I have had a little break, but am starting up again today. Got some commissions to get on with.  My summer has been good, a couple of little glitches, but nothing I can't handle.  I think that is why I have had a little breather. I have been trying to work on some hard sculptures, but they are ever so time consuming.  Well hope to have some photo's to post shortly.  I must admit I get a lot of requests for my Fjord which is nice.  I think I will try some other breed.  Well hope you all have a good weekend and I will try to post a lot more often.

July's felties

Have been busy over the last month.  Time is really flying by at the moment.  I have made another four felties since my last entry.  Didn't get to the show last weekend due to lack of transport.  I missed a really good show by the sounds of it.  Been on a short trip to Portsmouth the beginning of the Month.  Was really nice, we had good weather to, which makes a change.  Went to see all the historic boats.  Going to the Battle of the Proms on Saturday.  Have got to dress up in a Regency dress.  Really looking forward to it.

Well I'll stop rambling and show you my new models

First up is Izzy, she is a small Gypsy Vanner cob

Next up is Cosmo.

Then Padme the Friesian

And lastly this is a commission Norwegian fjord so has no name yet.

Has been a while since my last post.  Finally got round to taking photo's of my lastest felties.  The Suffolk Punch I made a while back.  I had a little tinker with making solid sculpture, which I have been enjoying.  But I find I don't enjoy them as much my felties.  So I have been sewing away for the last couple of weeks.  I have also booked into a model horse show in July, I might even have another couple of shows in the pipeline.  I am also going to show some models a our local country fairs.  Hope to bring home some rosettes.  Here are the lastest models.
This is Judy the Suffolk Punch.
This is Morten the Norwegian Fjord
This is Casper.  He has blue eye's

Hard sculpture meets Soft

Two of my models in progress.  I have been drawn to making some more felties.  I find these a lot more relaxing to make.  I do love sewing.  I think the felties will always call to me.  The guys in the photo have been looking like this for a little while now.  I am hoping to get some paint on the feltie today, as he is ready for that next stage. He is going to be a Norwegian fjord.  Here they are.

Whisper

Well this little lady took some time to complete.  It's been the Easter holidays as you know.  When everyone is off I don't seem to get much done at all. She is a lovely Dapple grey Vanner, made to 1:12th scale.  She has mohair mane and tail.  I really love her because she is all chunky.  I have another two horse slowly being worked, plus still working on that rider doll.  I can go days without doing any modeling.  It doesn't help that I do not have a work area to leave every thing out.

Paper running horse's

Have been very slowly working on my horse's.  Other life bits and bobs keep me busy, so have to squeeze these guy's in where I can.  Still haven't got round to the riders of tack yet.  I love making the horse's so much I can't pull myself away.  My Gypsy vanner will be up soon, she just need her mane and tail.  Not sure if I have any of the mohair colour that I want to put on her.  If I don't then she will have to wait until I have ordered some, she doesn't seem to be any great hurry.  I really want to get some live showing done this year.  I can't believe we are into April already.

I have decided to add my baking photo's on here as well, this is another one of my passions.  They will be add on the end of each post if I have anything to put.
Couple of running paper horse's. Hope they don't run off before I have finished them.
Here is where they live for now, drying on the radiator.  Will miss this in the summer when the heating goes off.

And here is what I baked yesterday, lemon bars.  Very very tangy these, you couldn't eat to much of them in one sitting.

Bare bones

Well not much creating done over the weekend, what with doing the garden on Saturday, then having Mum round for mothers day.  Here is a photo of my next model in the very early stages.  You get a little glimpse of my vanner nearly finished in the background.   Been on the hunt for really soft leather to start making some saddles for these guys.  I think I will try to make some dogs as well.  I have so much in mind, I just run out of time.

I can post photos Yah!

Was looking at other peoples messages about not being able to post photos, they were saying that if you use firefox you will be able to.  I have firefox so gave it a go and it worked.  So have some real catching up to do on here.  I am still on tumber also. nothing like having your fingers in many pie's.  As you may or may not know I have started to make hard sculptures instead of the felties.  I felt I had taken the felties as far as I could go and needed to progress.  I have many photo's of these models in progress.  Here are some for you to have a butcher's at.  Also finshed model photo's.  Will be back on here regularly so check back often.

 These are some rider heads

This Meadow all finished, she is slightly larger than the 1/12 scale I am making, I have just placed her as a large horse
